Iceland Crime

For the first time in years, the internationally renowned and multi-awarded actress Franka Potente stood before the camera to shoot a German production. Two crime movies were shot in Iceland and directed by Till Endemann. Franka portrays the sensible researcher "Solveig Karlsdottir". The scripts are written by US author Don Bohlinger and Nils-Morton Osburg. The setting uses the mystical islands to create two exceptional criminal cases.

Death in Westfjord
Solveig (Franka Potente) is a crime novel writer in Reykjavik. And she is quite successful, even if two murders per year in Island don’t offer the biggest source for inspiration. But Solveig has a big imagination and a special instinct if things aren’t all right. She can’t explain it, but she feels when something isn’t as it seems. This is the case when she now drives to her home village to look after her mother Margret (Hildegard Schmahl), who starts to suffer of dementia. A school day friend was found dead in the harbor, apparently an accident. But Solveig isn’t happy with this explanation and reveals a family drama around fraud, financial straits and disappointed expectations.

Death of the Elf Woman
Solveig’s mother who suffers from dementia is now living with her in Reykjavik. For several reasons it is too much for Solveig. She dives into her work, but all over sudden runs into another criminal case. The elf medium Isolda Thorsdottir was shot in her beloved elf park. At the crime scene: Little Yrsa (Carlotta von Falkenhayn) was found with the murder weapon. The girl obviously witnessed the crime and now decides to keep silent. She only takes confidence into Solveig. But why doesn’t she talk about what she witnessed? Did she see the killer? Does she even know him? Solveig and inspector Finsen (Joi Johannsson) dig into the mystic world of the elves, and discover a complot of the substantial financial motives.
