In Salzburg and Vienna, a new thriller mini-series for ORF and ARD Degeto, directed by Umut Dağ, is currently filmed: “Gnadenlos” (working title, meaning ‘merciless’) centers around police officer Lea (played by Martina Ebm), who spent eight years in prison on suspicion of murdering her mother. As she is released and returns to her job at the murder investigation unit in the county of Salzburg, she is greeted with suspicion by her team. However, this is the right place for Lea to use her intuition to convict perpetrators and solve crimes – and at the same time find the real murderer of her parents.
Alongside Martina Ebm, Laurence Rupp, Barbara Auer, and Tobias Moretti are starring in leading roles. Other characters are portrayed by Stephan Kampwirth, Stefan Gorski, Naomi Simmonds, Paul Wollin, Sohel Altan Gol, Tobias Resch, Anna Rieser, and Petra Morzé. The scripts were written by Marie-Therese Thill, Rebekka Reuber, Sven Poser, and Holger Joos. A broadcast date has not yet been set.
The series is being produced by the ndF subsidiary Prater Film on behalf of ARD Degeto and ORF. With FISA+, the Austrian Television Fund and the province of Salzburg, three funding bodies are backing the project.
