75 Years ndF: Birthday Trailer

Important Milestones in the 75+ years of ndF:

1947

The Company was founded by Harald Braun, Jacob Geis, Wolf Schwarz and others. Premiere of the first feature film
Between Yesterday and Tomorrow“.

1947

1985

First broadcast of the hit series “Das Erbe der Guldenburgs,” (“The Guldenburg Inheritance“) which became one of the most popular TV productions in German history.
That same year, producer Jürgen Kriwitz joined the company’s management board and created a new hit with the production of the ZDF series “Forsthaus Falkenau” (“Falkenau – The Hunter’s Home“).

1985

1996

Jürgen Kriwitz leaves the company, Claudia Sihler-Rosei and Hansjörg Füting take over the management.

1996

2003

ndF was part of the Kirch Group until April 2003. The managing partners Claudia Sihler-Rosei and Hansjörg Füting, together with the Schwarz family and other partners, acquire all shares in the company.
Since then, ndF has been one of the largest independent production companies in Germany.

2003

2016

Eric Welbers and Matthias Walther take over the management and lead the company since Sihler-Rosei and Füting left in June 2016.

2016

2022

Eric Welbers leaves management board of ndF to focus on international business as Managing Director of ndF International Production.
He is succeeded on the management board by Viola Fischer-Weiss, the long-serving head of finance and accounting.

ndF: neue deutsche Filmgesellschaft is one of the largest independent film production companies in Germany. In addition to its headquarters in Unterföhring near Munich, the ndF group has branches and subsidiaries in Berlin, Hamburg and Cologne.

 

The portfolio includes TV and feature films and TV series, as well as co-productions and non-fiction formats.

 

The company was founded in 1947 by director Harald Braun, screenwriter Jacob Geis and lawyer Wolf Schwarz. The license to produce films was granted by Erich Pommer, chief film officer of the military government in the American occupation zone after World War II. The first production, “Between Yesterday and Tomorrow,” was directed by founder Harald Braun and starred Hildegard Knef and Viktor de Kowa.

 

In 1985, ndF produced the hit series “Das Erbe der Guldenburgs” (“The Guldenburg Inheritance”) which became one of the most popular TV productions in German history. The same year, producer Jürgen Kriwitz joined the company’s management and created a new hit show with the production of the ZDF series “Forsthaus Falkenau” (“Falkenau – The Hunter’s Home”)

When Kriwitz left the company in 1996, Claudia Sihler-Rosei and Hansjörg Füting took over as managing directors.

 

ndF was part of the Kirch Group until April 2003, when managing partners Claudia Sihler-Rosei and Hansjörg Füting acquired the company shares together with the Schwarz family and other partners.

 

In September 2015, Eric Welbers and Matthias Walther joined the management board and have led the company since Sihler-Rosei and Füting left in June 2016.

 

In March 2022, Eric Welbers left the management board of ndF to focus on international business. He continues as managing director of ndF International Production. Viola Fischer-Weiss, head of finance and accounting for many years, joined the management board and steers the company together with Matthias Walther.
