The thriller miniseries by Prater Film, starring Martina Ebm, Laurence Rupp, Barbara Auer and Tobias Moretti, directed by Umut Dağ, will be presented in the “New German Television” section.

Unterföhring, June 25, 2026 – A great honor: Gnadenlos – Gegen das Gesetz, the new thriller miniseries produced by the ndF Group, has been officially selected for this year’s Munich International Film Festival (June 26 – July 5, 2026). As part of the prestigious “New German Television” section, the first two episodes will celebrate their world premiere in the presence of the lead cast and creative team on Sunday, June 28, at 4:30 p.m. at ASTOR Cinema and on Wednesday, July 1, at 10:00 a.m. at HFF Cinema 1.

The gripping and suspenseful series follows criminal investigator Lea (Martina Ebm), who spent eight years in prison for the murder of her mother. She is finally released when her father confesses to the crime before taking his own life. But Lea refuses to believe he is guilty. Returning to the Salzburg State Bureau of Criminal Investigation, she begins searching for the truth—only to find herself confronting a police force determined to keep it hidden. Set against the conflict between law and justice, the series combines an atmospheric thriller with the deeply personal story of a woman fighting to reclaim her life.

Alongside lead actress Martina Ebm, the series stars Laurence Rupp, Barbara Auer, and Tobias Moretti in the leading roles. The ensemble cast also includes Stephan Kampwirth, Stefan Gorski, Naomi Simmonds, Paul Wollin, Sohel Altan Gol, Tobias Resch, Anna Rieser, and Petra Morzé.

The series is directed by Umut Dağ. The screenplays were written by Sven S. Poser (Head Writer), Marie-Therese Thill, Rebekka Reuber, and Holger Joos. Christian Friedrichs serves as Producer, with Laura Weigel as Producer.

Gnadenlos – Gegen das Gesetz was produced by Prater Film GmbH, a company of the ndF Group, on behalf of ARD Degeto (Editors: Sebastian Lückel, Niklas Wirth, and Christoph Pellander) and ORF (Editors: Andrea Bogad-Radatz and Nina Fehrmann-Trautz). The series is funded by FISA+, the Austrian Television Fund (Fernsehfonds Austria), and the State of Salzburg. Filming took place in Salzburg and Vienna. International distribution is handled by Global Constellation GmbH.
