Fish meal, a substance that is virtually unknown in Germany. Thanks to it, we have salmon and other fish on our plates. But the consequences of fish meal production are dramatic for both people and the environment.

The demand for farmed fish—such as salmon—is growing. As a result, more and more fish caught in the ocean are not being eaten but are instead processed into meal. Worldwide, up to 20 million metric tons of wild-caught fish end up in animal feed each year.
